At A Glance
What: Teens run Philly Earth’s farm stand selling produce from their farm as well as farm-derived products including soaps, salsas, and pickled vegetables. PE also partners with local chocolatier John and Kira’s to grow and harvest mint and chilies for an exclusive line of chocolate bars.
Why: Students learn about and recognize entrepreneurship and career opportunities in urban farming, environmental science and other STEM disciplines.
Who: Students ages 14-19. This program is open to Village Industries students.
Example: Students learn the science and salesmanship behind harvesting, processing and packaging fresh ingredients into value-added goods.
