Community Land Care Crew Member
Reporting Relationships
Reports to Director of Environmental Initiatives
The Community Land Care Crew Member will serve as a key member of The Village ecosystem responsible for Vacant Lot Maintenance, Landscaping, and Community Stewardship of surrounding assigned parcels of greenspace, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS). Overall reporting to Lauren Thain, the Director of Environmental Initiatives, facilitating the improvement of environmental performance within the organization and local community, overseeing Philly Earth Farm, Orchard, Village Parks, and the PHS Community Land Care Partnership. Also reporting to Nestor Rodriguez, Land Care Crew Lead and Direct Supervisor, managing the crew by prioritizing projects, assigning work tasks, using and training on equipment use, maintaining records, monitoring work quality and work schedules, ensuring crew safety, and providing performance feedback.
Responsibilities:
Trash and debris shall be picked up from entire work site before mowing;
The entire work site shall be mowed to a consistent height of no more than 2 inches, from sidewalk to alley and from side to side. Vegetation growth beneath trees and over debris shall be maintained with a string trimmer.
Street and sidewalk shall be cleared of all grass clippings, stems, and leaves, after mowing is completed at work site before LandCare crew leaves the block.
Required Qualifications:
Must be 18 or older

Experience with the use of landscaping equipment
Basic safety precautions knowledge

Salary: $16/HR
Schedule: Part-time, 20 hours a week. Must work in person on our creative campus and surrounding area. Seasonal position between April- November.
