“25 Years of Neighborhood Revitalization: Arts, Education and Social Activism at The Village” featured visual art spanning two years of student coursework in photography, fashion and graphic design. A special presentation of rare archival photographs and paintings was on view documenting The Village’s inception and past programming and events. Curated by Desiree Thompson.
In conjunction with Philadelphia’s Annual Spring Clean-up, The Village invites friends, family and visitors to join in our annual Park Day combining community service and live performance in celebration of the transformative power of collective work, artistic exchange and reconnection to our neighborhood’s heritage.
Through sponsored Red Bull event titled, Red Bull Can Control, nine Village teens collaborated with Philly’s top graffiti artists to create large-scale graphic art. The event was followed by a gallery show and the work is exhibited permanently at The Village. Special thanks to Marangeli Mejia Rabell, Ya-Ya and Jeanette of Red Bull and all of the mentor artists.
